I like the fact they didn't kiss in this scene, albeit still felt robbed when I learnt the movie was meant to be 3 hours long. Why do I like it like this? It's absolutely gutwrenching in the best way possible; a kiss would have felt almost as if he could say goodbye and see her again. The eye contact truly was invoked the guttural emotions of the scene where they didn't have enough time to love each other properly. They could only watch the other in longing.

Honestly, it made for a better ending. If they had kissed, and or gone on the aquarium date. It would've felt cliché and rushed. I dont think Jinu comes back in physical form either. Just as a spirit, that can communicate with Rumi. I think he'll help the girls that way, then eventually find peace, and move on. With Rumi finding his mother and sisters grave makers perhaps. And placing a stone there with Jinu's name. So he can rest in peace with his family, finally, after 400 years.

The creators didn’t add the kiss in the shortened version as they thought it would be too rushed and unrealistic. They had them kiss in the original three hour version at the aquarium in a date, as they had more time to show their relationship grow. Also, they didn’t add the final kiss to hint at a second movie. Which mean we see Jinu in the second part again 🤭🤭🤭
