very interesting, i’m a young adult and just getting into comics (Dr Strange, Moon Knight and Martian Manhunter mainly). I really love them, and i want to support them as much as i can but more then just buying the weekly issues of the ones i care about and telling everyone how much fun they are, i don’t really know what else consumers can do.

The industry might have to experience a contraction for awhile to rebuild demand and interest. Some titles crush but most don’t because sadly there might be too many.

My LCS I’ve been going to basically every week for 12 years is closing this fall due to the uncertainty of the industry. I am extremely bummed about it.

We, the community, have got to continue to support our local comic stores, and share their thoughts out in social media to continue the current flo of comics so it continues to be relevant and important to all, and hopefully makes an impact on the new upcomming generation of comic fans.

I wonder If sales innovation would help. What If something like Marvel Rivals started including codes for skins in each physical floppy sold? What If movies directly marketed trades for comics? What If Disney and WB used their TV channels to advertise their comics to young people? I think those things would boost sales tremendously.

My main issue with comics is that they refuse to grow with the times. At least with the big 2, how many times do we hear about a book going out of print that everyone wants while they release 20 more that no one cares about? why haven't they created digital platforms that let you curate your collection and be flagged when a new vol comes out? that would give them real time data on what's selling. I imagine a world where when you buy a comic it gets added to your digital library and fans can vote or even pre order things they want. Similar to kickstarter. There is no reason for the big 2 to not embrace technology.

My local comic store always comes through. My only complaint is that a new book comes out and then it gets flooded with # 1 issues. And then there are too many exclusives. That gave great covers, but are insanely overpriced in my opinion

I was buying weekly as a new reader from 22-24. Singles are way too expensive and they add up. I had no choice but to switch to budgeting in omnis and trades. I’m very satisfied.
