So I understand what reps in reserve mean but at the same time I also don’t understand, so how many reps did I have at the end of my workout before I hit failure but what does the R1 actually mean , should all my sets have 1 rep in reserve ?

all these people complaining about it not being "simple and fast" wtf. This was great video and extremely informative and put it in a way where I actually leaned something and simple enough to follow. Thank you

There is another way. You keep the reps the same , say sets of 6 in big compounds and go to say 1 RIR … then MICROLOAD with a very small increase in weight every couple while keeping the reps, form , speed etc the same. This tricks the body into gains. Your body can manage the same reps with a 1 additional pound increase while it often cannot add a rep. So in this way progressive overload itself does cause muscle and strength gains.

As I like to put it... Progressive overload is not something you do, but something that happens once you train, feed and rest properly.
