@golf_manual: There are 3 types of ball in golf, but which is best for you? First is the distance ball. Distance balls are built with one goal in mind: to go as far as possible. They’re usually two-piece balls designed to reduce spin off the tee, so your drives fly straighter and go farther. They’re also the most affordable type of ball which is ideal if you’re still losing a few off the tee and let’s be honest, that’s most of us But here’s the trade-off: You’ll lose feel and spin around the greens. That means chips won’t check up as much, and putts can feel a bit firmer off the face. Next is the soft ball. These are also usually two-piece balls, but they’re made with a softer outer layer. This means they compress more easily at lower swing speeds, giving you a softer feel off the face. They still go a long way, but offer a little more spin and control compared to distance balls. They’re great for weekend warriors who want more feel without paying for a tour-level ball but they still won’t give you the greenside control of a premium option. Finally, the premium ball. These are the ones you see on Tour: think Titleist Pro V1, TaylorMade TP5. They usually have 3 to 5 layers and urethane covers, which provide the best results in every area of the game. The problem with premium balls? They cost up to £4 each, so unless your swing is dialled in, they might not be worth it just yet.
