1. “Shouldn’t you be home with your kids instead?” 🙄 As if women can’t run a business and raise a family. 2. “Mattress stores don’t last—aren’t you worried?” Translation: I’ve never built anything, but I’ve got plenty of unsolicited opinions. 3. “Who even buys mattresses anymore? Everyone orders online.” Because comfort, savings, and service don’t matter… right? 4. “That’s not a real business.” Just because it’s different doesn’t make it any less legit. 5. “Must be nice—probably just a tax write-off for your husband.” This one reeks of sexism and ignorance. 6. “You should’ve stayed at your old job. That was more stable.” Stability is great… unless it suffocates your potential. 7. “Why would anyone buy a mattress from you?” Maybe because they love saving money, shopping local, and sleeping better? 8. “You’ll probably be closed in six months like the rest of them.” Spoken like a true expert in failure forecasting. 9. “It’s just mattresses. How hard can it be?” Said by someone who’s never negotiated freight, stocked inventory, or worked 80-hour weeks. 10. “Aren’t you worried you’ll embarrass yourself?” No—but you should be worried about underestimating me.
