Desert, Spies and NHS Lies :
I walked 500 miles, north from Salahah, into this desert. Heard many myths about the wolves and lions that would eat me. There were snakes, but it was Omani security services who detained me, interrogated me as a spy and banned me.

The desert, or the Empty Quarter. It's colder than the sea and harsher than the jungle. Most explorers don't realize how dangerous it is. I appreciate their love of exploration, but their exploration will put them in danger, so anyone coming from America or Europe is advised to be careful. The desert is not what you expect. Go to the places the natives frequent and ignore the unknown places so you don't get lost.
