I live in NYC and I’m always running into famous people, and I end up gaslighting myself like, “that’s not them, just some lookalike.” Especially because people have thought I was “someone” before, yk? So I imagine people who know Clark at the Daily Planet think, “sure, he has similar features but no way,” kind of like when your coworker looks like a celeb. that said, I’m 100% convinced the people in smallville knew. 🤣🤣

reasons why people don't figure out why Clark Kent is Superman: - Superman has a "public" identity of being Kal El and living in the Artic - No One expects someone close to them to be this one famous person, especially when different accents/mannerisms are at play - Clark was a sickly child (alien child growing up away from home planet) so like. No One in Small ville can associate the sick kid that often missed school with Bullet-Proof Superman

It’s worse in the Superman the animated series because he literally tells Lana about his powers at school and then tells her he hears danger. Then he runs at super speed from his school to a gas station where he saves a family from a fire that causes an explosion. No one assumed he’d get out of unscathed until he emerges from the fire perfectly fine and with a child safely in his arms. All of that in front of Lana and a couple other people at the gas station.
