Lasagna with Cheesy Garlic Bread ​ ​Yields: 8 servings Prep time: 30 minutes Cook time: 30 minutes ​Ingredients: ​For the Lasagna: • ​1.5 lbs ground beef • ​2 (24 oz) jars Ragu Simply Pasta Sauce (or similar quantity of your preferred pasta sauce) • ​16 oz lasagna noodles (oven-ready or traditional, cooked according to package directions if traditional) • ​12 oz cottage cheese • ​15 oz ricotta cheese • ​8 oz softened cream cheese • ​1-2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided • ​1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese • ​1/4 cup heavy cream • ​1-2 tablespoons Italian seasoning (to taste) • ​Salt and black pepper to taste • 1 tbsp Chicken Knorr ​For the Cheesy Garlic Bread: • ​1 loaf sliced Italian bread • ​1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened • ​1-2 teaspoons garlic powder (to taste) • ​1-2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese • ​1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese • ​A sprinkle of Italian seasoning or dried parsley (optional, for garnish) ​Instructions: ​1. Prepare the Meat Sauce: -In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium-high heat, breaking it up with a spoon. Drain any excess fat.  - Stir in the Ragu Simply Pasta Sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper & chicken knorr seasoning. Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat to low and let it simmer while you prepare the cheese mixture (at least 10-15 minutes). ​2. Prepare the Cheese Mixture: -In a large bowl, combine the cottage cheese, ricotta cheese, softened cream cheese, 1 cup of mozzarella cheese, 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese, and heavy cream. - Mix until well combined and smooth. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper if desired. ​3. Assemble the Lasagna: -Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). -Spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish. -Arrange a single layer of lasagna noodles over the sauce. -Spread half of the cheese mixture evenly over the noodles. -Top with meat sauce  -Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese  - Repeat the layers: noodles, remaining cheese mixture, meat sauce, sprinkle of cheese. - Finish with a final layer of noodles, topped with the remaining meat sauce. -Sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of mozzarella cheese evenly over the top. ​4. Bake the Lasagna: -I bake it uncovered but you can also cover the baking dish loosely with aluminum foil (spray the underside of the foil with non-stick spray to prevent cheese from sticking). Bake for 30 minutes. Then broil for 3-5 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown. -Let the lasagna rest for 10-15 minutes before serving to allow it to set. ​5. Prepare the Cheesy Garlic Bread: -About 15-20 minutes before the lasagna is done, prepare the garlic bread. -In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, garlic powder and grated parmesan cheese.  Mix well. -Spread the garlic butter generously on one side of each slice of Italian bread. -Place the bread slices butter-side up on a baking sheet. -Evenly sprinkle mozzarella cheese over each slice. If desired, sprinkle with a little extra Italian seasoning or dried parsley. -Bake at 400 degrees for 8-12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the edges of the bread are golden brown. Keep an eye on it to prevent burning. ​6. Serve: -Slice the lasagna into individual portions and serve hot with the cheesy garlic bread on the side.
