For Clarity: Marmots LOVE Antifreeze. Ethylene Glycol smells sweet to animals. SO, they get into the undercarriage of cars and chew through wiring and hoses trying to get it. Often utterly wrecking engines and poisoning themselves in the process

So let me get this straight. Marmots will chew through hoses, wires and such but a tarp is a no for them? Like they'll chew a hole in 2 sec.

What kind of Marmot do you have? We have marmots all over Alaska, and they don't eat things in cars . bears do but not marmots

What?! When did this start happening? I’ve been to Sequoia National Park probably 50 times since I grew up 45 min away and have never been told to tarp my car.

My dad hiked a 14er in Colorado years ago, drove 6 hours back home to Denver. Later that evening we heard what sounded like a fire alarm chirping when it’s running out of batteries. Go outside and it’s a marmot sitting in our front yard… It hitched a ride under my dad’s car. Luckily we found someone to catch it and take it back up to the mountains the next day.
