As an Ex D1 Hooper and now coach… I feel like my life’s mission has to be helping parents / players get out of the fog on what really works. And how to train, in a way that isn’t that cool or flashy. My way is not the only way to make it… but, My dad and I focused on the same 3-5 things every single day for 10 years. We would go in the back yard and Catch + Shoot (500-1000) reps per day. Work on 1-2 dribble pull ups, floaters and basic finishing. Over and over and over again.  I became one of the best shooters in NCAA history, scored over 2300 points in high school. My game was so basic it was sickening. Made 50% of my 3s. If I got ran off the line I’d make a 1-2 dribble pull up. And made floaters / layups at a high clip. Boring. I ended up not being able to be taken out of the game at the Division 1 level (A-10)  Now fast forward to training players, and my son… I have to take the same approach. Not so every player ends up like me… just so every player works on the right things. The simple way. Instead of going to the gym with no plan. Or thinking 800 dribble combo moves is going to move the needle.. And in most cases, the simple way is really boring. And sometimes feels like it’s not working. Until it does. So you can either- Master the basics (like every other great) and work on a few things and get really good at it. Or do what 95% of players are doing. A million different drills. A million different workouts. A million different trainers. And getting really good at nothing.. This October, I’m releasing the exact blueprint I followed to become one of the most accurate shooters in NCAA history — and now the same blueprint I’m using with Zay . It’s the step-by-step guide for parents to build their child the right way, from 2nd grade all the way to scholarships.
