I was reading an explicit fic once that clearly a) was written by someone in academia, and b) got wildly away from the author because it started like the average pwp but it ended up having no real explicitness and actually had cited sources at the end of each chapter 🤣. Like it was great cus I am always up for random extensive worldbuilding even when it happens to be about dual cultivation. There was like min 4 different references per chapter.
