You can get a shaving profile and get an eletric razor instead of a traditional razor. Thats what i did.

SGT, im not saying you're wrong about the other issues in the Army however, you have to look out for you and you're career. PFB can very much be controlled. Too many of us (blk) in the Army have abused the loop hole whether than finding a routing that works for them. There are many bump patrol types of sprays that will and do work great. Our biggest enemy is the straight blade. Get you some top quality t-blade clippers (Oster). Clippers shave skin close without cutting the hair below skin level which is truly what causes PFB because our hair is curly... PFB can definitely be controlled. Too many of us just dont want to control it in order to have a beard.

Shave; deal with the looks, and rock on. As prior service who had Psoriasis, and a white soldier, I didn’t whine nearly as much as you folks. If it affects you to the point you can’t serve…get that DD-214 and move on. The Armed Forces isn’t a meal ticket / EBT card son.

There’s literally a Sargent in my company who has a profile that says he’s allowed to take a 30 min nap whenever he feels like it because of narcolepsy or some bs and he still has a job but a shaving profile is where we draw the line

I’m all for beards, but why do you shave it down on your neck and let it grow out on your face? Mind you, I served in the military for 23 years as a MSG/1SG and I too had a permanent shaving profile. The condition won’t get better by continuously shaving it that low like you are, it has to grow out enough for you to remove the hairs from the skin, then you maintain that length 1/8th of an inch.

Pulling the race card… C’mon brother. The new REG is very clear… if you have a condition that you have to kept a well trimmed beard you need to keep it up to standards and have your shaving profile on you all the time. The blame for this is th Army itself, for letting this get out of control. Now it’s too late to fix it

Im retired Air Force and he's right. Razor bumps are a Black man issue because we are not created to shave our beards. However, the military requires a clean face so that your gas mask will have a snug tight fit. In that case, they need to make better masks for those with beards due to our natural condition.

They worried about the wrong shit honestly and I’m speaking as a military spouse there’s literally a war in place and facial hair and baby hairs is the biggest issue in the military? But ppl with this condition can’t get a medical waiver but you have ppl that can’t even run doing PT or pass most requirements and still have a job that’s secured but they’ll rather have soilders with cuts and bumpy faces because y’all feeling some type of way because most men can grow breads and other can’t I’m not seeing how facial hair affects anyone clearly your not worried about serving your country if breads are the topic at the end of the day there will be no army because yall are targeting ppl with breads and edges and that’s damn near 90 percent of the ppl that’s enlisted , Warrant officers, NCO’s and etc 😒
