I did automotive for a while, yes they question everything! after moving into IT, I'm not surprised. people are just people. they complain about them selves as well.

How do you avoid being ripped off when you tell a customer what malfunction you found in your estimate to him? He can make the repairs himself once you've done the troubleshooting.

I used to own an IT service company. There are customers that want it done right and people that want it done cheap. They don’t realize a big part of the charge is for knowing how to do it. Very few computer repair shops actually know what they’re doing. Most people don’t understand that. 😂

I use to work at a lawnmower repair shop and came to the realization that it was CostOfRepair/CostOfProduct =complaint. As complaint approaches 1 customers are more likely to be jerks. Nothing you can do about math.

Mechanic labor is about $240/hr where I live. Not at the dealership shops. A lot more at those.

and people don’t think about overheads - they’re not just paying for your repair, they’re paying for your expertise, your skills, your store’s rent, electrical, etc etc.
