My preference is to adorn brown suede shoddings with a navy suit and a black velvet monogram or crested slipper. I don't care for leather shoes much because the texture of the said suit compliments the fabrics of velvet and suede so much better than calfskin shoddings.

I always felt off when I tried wearing brown shoes and belt with black slacks. Dark brown with blue is absolutely fine.

Even the lighter brown looks good if you have a belt that matches. It also needs the right shirt/tie combo. It also depends on where you are and what the occasion is.
