People saying Harry's anger issues in later books seemed out of character need to remember this scene. He's always had a vindictive violent streak. Sadly very much a product of a broken home. If only there was any kind of pastoral support or therapy allowed in the magical world instead of rampant child endangerment and a dangerous lack of vetting for educational professionals.
