Mrs. Kirkland mirrors Mrs. Russell in terms of wanting their children to marry for position in society. The Kirkland just don’t have that kind of money. Mrs Kirkland is apart of that Blue Vein Society mentality and like White folks, lineage is extremely important. She kept talking about how her family had been in Rhode Island as free people for generations and she can trace her ancestor back to the Revolutionary War. I was so excited for the show to return and 3 episodes in, it does not disappoint.

In a way, what goes around comes around for Peggy's parents. They deprived her of love the first time and now they will witness her get clobbered by it again.

The Scotts are defo elite too they just live in a different city with perhaps a smaller social scene. They’re new money through Arthur since it’s technically just one generation but they are wealthy !
