@diabeticinthewoods: it's an entire part of my identity so what would I be without it, ya know? #t1d #typeonediabetic #typeonediabetes #type1diabetic #type1diabetes #diabetic #diabetes #dexcom #insulin #insulinpump #cgm #dexcomg7 #dexcom #tandem #twiist #dka #hypoglycemia #bloodsugar #a1c #cure
I’d probably still wear a dexcom for quite some time after being “cured”.

not one bit, had for 30 years, still want it gone, I almost had it gone (for a while)with a kidney-pancreas transplant t but they had to remove the pancreas soon after. my new kidney is getting damaged.l already. I would take the cure IMMEDIATELY

I’m on the other end of this spectrum. I want my diabetes to go away so I don’t have to worry about it anymore and can feel more normal

diabetes is such an easy scapegoat for anything wrong with my life. I genuinely would miss using that to cope. It's easy to blame a bad day on a wonky glucose but it's really hard to accept that bad days happen with no rhyme or reason sometimes 🤷🏻

I feel like it’s a whole “the devil you know” type of thing. That being said, my Dad got to stop worrying about diabetes after his transplant and it was a huge relief for him. He didn’t have access to the tools we do or the social support though, so I think that makes a big difference.

My type 1 (LADA or type 1.5) didn't come around til I was 31. In the 10 years I've had it, my anxiety over this illness has reached crazy levels. For me, I think a cure would be a huge stress relief. Maybe because I remember adult life before diabetes? I'd probably wear my dexcom for a while though.

I definitely have some fear around being cured, for the same reasons you mentioned. it would be so weird not to be diabetic I think I would constantly be checking my blood sugar. maybe I have some fear of losing a part of myself but despite all that I want a cure for sure

I honestly think we'd forget about it over time. The longer without it returning, the more the trust would grow and all of that previous health knowledge would still be there 💙

I worry about the idea of a pancreas transplant as a cure. If the new pancreas were to fail as is a possibility with any organ or be rejected we are back at square one
