Is this the most beautiful library in New York? It’s a tough call when the New York Public Library exists, but The Morgan Library & Museum might just clinch it for me 💛 Originally the private library of financier J.P. Morgan (yes, as in that Morgan, of banking fame 💰), this Gilded Age masterpiece was built in 1906 to house his incredible book and manuscript collection. Today, it’s open to the public and, despite being in the heart of New York City, stepping inside feels like walking into a scene from Beauty and the Beast 🏰 The highlight? The East Room, a breathtaking room with three levels of bookshelves, stunning Italian Renaissance-inspired murals, and an air of old-world grandeur. There are around 14,000 books in this room, including rare illuminated manuscripts, first editions, and literary treasures 😍 Planning your visit? ⏰ Open Tuesday–Sunday, 10:30am - 5pm (closed Mondays) 💰 General admission: $25 (cheaper for students & seniors!) ✨ FREE every Friday from 5 - 8pm - the perfect start to a bookish weekend in NYC! Beyond the library, The Morgan also has fascinating exhibitions, J.P. Morgan’s opulent study, and even a lovely café for a post-library coffee or glass of wine 🍷 When I visited there was live jazz music playing too 🎶 So, do you think The Morgan is NYC’s most stunning library? Or does the NYPL’s Rose Reading Room still reign supreme? Let me know your take in the comments below👇💬 #MorganLibrary #NYCBookstagram #LibrariesoftheWorld #LibraryLover #BibliophileLife #HistoricBuildings #LiteraryTravel #NYCMuseums #LibraryLife #VisitNewYork
