I can’t really say much due to the devotion I dedicate to my loved ones… but something that also doesn’t sit right with me is when people pleasers or savior complexes help to put people in their debts. You chose to help. You are in no position to try to act as if you deserve something back for something no one asked for. I can hold sympathy for you if you do it without expecting exchange, but helping only to backpedal and say “Well I did ___ for you, why can’t you ___?” Is pathetic. What also is intolerable is when they’re also two-faced or a fawn-response person. They’ll drizzle honey all over their words in front of you only to spit on your name behind your back. And once they’re caught, the idea of actual accountability doesn’t occur to them, but rather bargaining for forgiveness and sympathy. You should hold empathy for these people because they clearly have issues like the rest of us, but it doesn’t mean you should have to tolerate it.

This!!! Having a healthy relationship with boundaries is so relieving compared to the people ive met that claim to have "savior complex", enabling me and using my crashout against me is NOT saving me (this is my personal experience btw)

i think i heard a similar thing to this way of thinking in rtoc(webnovel) where mc tries to save his students out of obligation or sensing that it was his responsibility but after many regressions realizes that it wasn't his will to choose what his students lives were to be saved by him all because he longed for life. i think he finds this out after nearing the realm of five energies converging to the origin and it was because it was necessary to realize his own intent(colorless) because he was searching for the intent that he saw within his students and experiences and after finding out that his intent was life he managed to understand his students feelings and let them do what they want even with them sacrificing themselves. he refused his students own perseverance due to his own goal which completely denies what they truly feel. i think that's also why i find the savior complex to be so weird.

This is actually so true, the sacrifices that come with it are not really rewarded at all, you sacrifice a piece of your soul just to make someone feel better because you feel like you're helping. Most of the time it's just a few "thank you I love you!" and that's pretty much it and it's also one-sided in a way because one tries so hard and sacrifices ANYTHING to help that person yet that person sometimes doesn't even acknowledge it

right and they insist that you can vent and tell your troubles to them but proceed to just compare their issues to yours, and then make you seem ungrateful for their "help" when you genuinely tell them that you Don't feel better, sometimes even worse. those with savior complexes don't always acknowledge how they're just hurting the person even more. they are blinded by the idea that they can fix any issue that they don't realize that they are the issue
