you are talking about feminism as a philosophy. what men are criticizing is what American feminism has warped into which is misandry. of course men believe women should be treated equally the problem is the concept of feminism in the practice of American feminism do not overlap.

Okay but if you give your man flowers for no reason that is both equal treatment and the same treatment. Saying “I am a woman and want to be treated as such” seems to be expressing that it is right to expect gentlemanly behavior; that’s fine, but if one wants that and wants to receive both equal treatment but not the same treatment, there needs to be a re-invigoration (and perhaps reimagining) or “ladylike” behavior.

I’m interested in the privileges that men have that women don’t have. Are you talking about the privileges we have in family court? Or all the abuse shelters set up for abused men? Maybe it’s the privileges we get for doing the deadly back breaking work to keep our society’s infrastructure working. Maybe it’s how much better boys are treated in our education system than girls? I really need to know about these privileges because I want some of them.

Hard agree. My wife got me flowers a few times and it always makes my day. Ultimately it's just about being nice. Men can be chivalrous with no intention of superiority and women can be strong and independent and still treat men like they matter.

I suppose it depends how you define equality. If you want all the good things and none of the bad, I wouldn’t call that equality. If 2 people get paid equally, 2 people should spend equally, or if not a literal equal the one could to something of kind for the other. I guess it’s impossible to argue or agree unless we know how you define equal and what type of feminism you support.

Having been married to feminist I had to be the main breadwinner plus do all the cooking, cleaning, grocery shopping, child responsibilities such as doctors appointments. Plus had to do the traditional things like buying flowers and give words of affirmation. So I don't see how feminism has benefited me.

No. Most women I see in the workplace and my personal life have very little understanding of men regardless of their level of Feminism. Just like this exchange, you ask for a male perspective. You then state that you think you know more about that perspective than I. What do you know about how men see you or other women? You have no credibility or experience? Why are you even asking if you are just going to dismiss it?
