I have lived next to Seaside my whole life - I’m 40. I have never liked the beach. I love Jersey; Jersey Girl for lyfe honestly. But I hate the beach lmao. It’s not an unpopular opinion lol

As a fellow Jersey Ginger, I’m totally with you. New England beaches are way better than the Jersey Shore. If I have to be at the beach, I want to be wearing a sweater.

just going to the pool for a couple hours here in Michigan turned me red and that was after coating myself head to toe in sunscreen. Then I went down a rabbit hole of sunscreen info trying to find a better one and now I'm freaking out trying to find a mineral based sunscreen with no aluminum that won't stain everything, make me look even more ghostly, leave me feeling like a ball of grease, or cost as much as a utility bill to coat myself with. So yeah, the Jersey Shore definitely sounds too overwhelming for me as well, lol. Also, anybody got sunscreen recommendations? 😅

I love the beach and enjoy the Jersey Shore with my family living there.. NJ of course allowed for over development and the traffic is worse than ever. The Hamptons and the North Fork on Long Island are arguably more beautiful with better preservation and more control over the development. As for Maine I’ve never been, need to get there.

Jersey Girl, born and raised. it saddens me that it it takes hours to get there now and it costs damn near $100 between tolls, parking, day pass, and whatever else you may need up getting and that's just one person to go.... but yet, I go. bc it's home and there's nothing else like it.

That sounds terrible. I love the beaches here in Maine, too. I also love that depending on how close you are to the coast, you can smell the ocean when the wind blows just the right way. It’s so calming to me.

i’ve lived in Jersey for 30+ years, and still don’t get sitting in that Parkway traffic, dealing with the obnoxious crowds on the beach, and having to pay to get onto the beach. Especially after having grown up in NC, where you drive to the beach, park, and walk on.

So I would be you if my family didn’t have a shore house ON one of the lagoons, I call myself a “lagoon brat”, I do not go to the beach down the shore, I do not like sand, I do not want to be near strangers or away from a kitchen or bathroom 🤣

Same, also hate beaches in NY like Jones. Used to like as a kid. My kids are old enough to go there on their own now. They love it. Even the water and waves.
