Girrrllll it scary in these internet streets. I’ve been told I’m not Black because I’m Haitian. I was so confused… like I’m not Black American but I am black. I’m literally from a Black liberation country. My people came here and fought in the civil war to help free Black Americans. It’s insane. I fear they have lost the plot. What’s crazy is that just five years ago I had so much hope because it was the first time in my lifetime I felt like we were really uniting and were going to be unstoppable. I’m sure the enemy saw it too, so it’s not lost on me that these things are happening now. We can all preserve our culture and still unite and rally around one another. We are all parts of the oppressed, we are not each other’s enemies.

Yup. You got it. I’ll put aside the Africans for a moment (as a Caribbean, some of them be wilding out lol), but the FBA thing is just rebranded radical racial nationalism in blackface. You know it started off with them routinely saying “blood and soil” on Twitter. That was a wild era. They’ve tried to legitimize themselves and it has worked. Listen, my light skin queen, it’s too late. There’s very little we can do now other than gravitate towards like-minded/good people and try to be a version of good we envision for ourselves.

I 100% think this is fueled by MAGA trying to appeal to black people
when Obama became president he was the first black president to every black person i knew. no one cared what specific flavor of black he had. he presents as black and he's American and that was that.
this modern take on diaspora wars and who can call ourselves black started much later

I don’t disagree with you, but why does everyone else get to preserve their culture but Black Americans can’t? The language is getting scary and this convo has to be had delicately so it isn’t chocolate dipped MAGA but it’s still a convo to be had.

Do you feel like Black Americans feel bamboozled? Because they thought everyone around them was Black American and when those kids grew up they took pride in their own culture? And now because of that people have attitudes?
