My daughter is like Fort Knox with her emotions unless she’s in trouble. We alway reassure her that we are always there as a support but we get nada 🥴

My son is very empathetic to everyone's emotions. He had a girlfriend send him a picture of her feet on a ledge saying "should I or shouldn't I?" That sent him spiraling. Thank goodness he jas an awesome friend group because they let me know he was self harming. We found notes he had written to his dad and I. He was in therapy for a good while and is now released from it. I check in with him daily. He takes on everyone's emotions. His dad and I have never put our emotions onto him but I also think it has to do with what I do for a living.

True! I am super careful with my kiddos. Very empathic kids. Always remind them my feelings aren’t their responsibility and have noticed they handle stressors as I have modeled. I am the eldest daughter, parntified with 3 siblings. Soo self defining and unhealthy. Unlearning that took 35 yrs. It can be undone!! Not perfect but aware.

Our son takes on burdens of others and puts himself in their shoes, even with TV. We are always concerned about how burdened he is with issues he can’t control. It’s emotionally hard on him and us.
