Unfortunately, I just did the same. Got all my adoption papers too incase of anything. It’s really frustrating and saddening to have to think about these things, but also so lucky to be privileged to not have thought too hard about it before.

I was born in Russia and adopted by American parents everytime I have to do something at the MVA I have to use my prof of us citizenship because my passport expired and I always feel like they’re gonna say something I always get nervous

Hey girl! If you were adopted outside the US and under the age of 18 when the Child Citizenship Act of 2000 was passed on Feb 27 of 2001, you should be able to get your certificate of citizenship pretty much automatically as long as everything checks out & requirements are met. Please do this if you haven’t already. It’s a pretty easy application to fill out but definitely recommend getting back in touch with your immigration attorney if you have questions

You can’t make sense of the “common sense” mentality of the none sense of this new world order/ this new normal of this administration. I am with you as immigrant adopted from an Asian country and I feel what you are going through remember you are not alone. Keep all your paperwork in a safe and buy a fire/ water proof safe.

This is not the country any of us ever foresaw happening. I cant imagine what it's like to be in your shoe. The uncertainty plus the frustration must be so overwhelming. Your mom seems like a very wise woman. It is 💯 better to be proactive than be unprepared in the future. I would advice doing research on other proactive steps you can take now, and post all these steps so others may follow. Communication between the resistance is the key.

Its scary for everyone. Specially now even if your a US citizen your still being threatened. It's so scary to think about. I started talking to a civil rights lawyer just to prepare for my family just incase it does happen.

I’ve been wondering that I was born in the USA and within 24 hours I was in foster care but my bio parents where undocumented when I was born so how am I looked at I also have my adoption papers on me at all times now.

Do you have your COC (certificate of citizenship)? If you don’t, you need to get it ASAP. I know recently it didn’t cost anything if you were adopted.

My kids are half Japanese. I totally understand and fear for my kids. Their dad's family have lived in Hawaii for 5 generations. Still makes me nervous! Sorry your dealing with this too!

I have my teen and tween Chinese adoptees carrying around copies of their citizenship paperwork and passports. this is not the world we lived in when I adopted them :(
