As a half Korean American I used to pray every night before bed that I would wake up looking more white. I would do my makeup to look more white. I would yell at my mom for packing me traditional dosirak’s for lunch (something I feel awful for to this day). The fact that people keep saying that they didn’t even know that the word in question was a slur is absolutely ridiculous because at the end of the day they knew it was AT LEAST disrespectful.

You're right tho.. since this happened I've read/seen so many stories from both Asian men and women about the pain they've experienced from bullying. Although most of tbe bullying occured as children the pain lingers long into adulthood. If enough of your peers, no matter the age, tell you repeatedly you're ugly or how you look is wrong, you begin to believe them. I am so sorry. I hadn't heard any of this until now. If there is a silver-lining to be found, it's that awareness has been spread to the masses. Perhaps the next guy will stop using it. One less person is damaged by hurtful words. 💔 To echo the other commenter, you are gorgeous 😍 You're look, in it's entirety, it ethereal to me. My parents were deeply racist. I taught my kids to do better & be better. My daughter is now pregnant and she will teach her child to be even better. I have hope racism will eventually be eradicated from our society. Until then, know there are others who truly care, who are trying to be better, who influence the change we desperately need. ❤️
