She took a raise and also added 9 new rolls in her office that make $130000 a year when the 33 make something around $35000. They want to have a pay that accounts for the raise in inflation and she just won't.

When the mayor gives in, I hope the trash service and city workers or whoever, cleans up the low income areas first. Like you took your time giving them fair wages mayor so they're gonna take their time getting to you too. 💙

Because if you left it up to the city on what they wanted to give them workers it would look alot worse than what it is. Great point that the union is the only reason its not awful.

This is a test. Theyre testing our boundaries, how little we’ll settle for, how quickly we’ll scab for striking workers. We must stand strong in solidarity with all striking workers everywhere, especially Philly!

That’s the thing that people forget, these benefits were all fought for in past contracts. These aren’t willingly given to workers.

Every worker deserves the right to Health care, Time off and a pension. It is the power of the worker that makes the world turn. We have the power all that is needed is to organize and fight.

claiming the value of parental leave in annual total compensation? it's not like people have a new kid EVERY SINGLE YEAR JUST TO GET THE BENEFITS! that's insane.

They want you to forget the union is why they have these benefits in the first place.

I got to meet the New Orleans sanitation workers who went on strike a couple of years ago. they were employed through a temp agency and paid like $20 to $30/h no bennies. when they organized, the temp agency took them off sanitation work

I feel like it's time for Philadelphia citizens to vote to make the mayor and city council salariea equal to the lowest compensated city worker.

I say match their reluctance and raise the amount they want per year. Even with their proposed raise, they still make less than the median salary in Philly.

Vicki, The Comp $ Person :
From a Sr Comp professional that is a typical total rewards study. What is failed is to consider market wages for workers for their roles (base pay). Total value doesn’t always equate to total win.

Corporations really started pushing the “total compensation” shtick over the last decade to justify underpaying workers and it’s absolutely BS. They, as the employers, have to offer many of those benefits, but they pretend it’s a bonus
