in the older X-Men comics they used to have costume breakdowns. I mean when storm and nightcrawler first joined the team era. they showed how cyclops does have a button right below his thumb that he can reach with this index finger. but he can't adjust how wide the lense is from there. that dial is on the visor itself

in the comics he actually does have a mechanism in his glove to control his visor it's for when he gets kidnapped and they restrain his arms which doesn't happen often but it's useful for that as well as just strategically better to use the glove than the side of his visor

honestly, the button would be a good secret weapon. use your headset every time you attack but when you get into a situation when your hands are bound or something like that then you can pull out of nowhere, pop the thing and take out all the enemies
