Some people in these comments are wild. She was stuck in a life she did not want to live. That man she was “engaged” to was set up by her mother because her family was going broke and she was their golden ticket. She didn’t want to cheat, she didn’t even want to be with her fiancé in the first place, hence why she tried to jump off of the titanic to end herself when jack found her and gave her a reason, a feeling for being alive. Probably for the first time in her life she felt alive and not just another day dragging by. Back in those days women still didn’t have a lot of freedom or options for work, they weren’t as oppressed as others but still didn’t have a lot of choices, so she was honestly stuck until she was rescued in the water and brought to NYC. She still proceeded to avoid her ex fiancé even after jack passed away and she had nothing so it’s not about her “cheating” because she wasn’t even really with the guy in the first place, not by her choice anyways.. but the point of all of this at the end of the day isn’t about her “cheating” the point is… THERE WAS ENOUGH ROOM ON THAT DAMN DOOR!!!! She wasn’t a cheater she was a smurder!!

everyone saying she was the evil one but she was forced to be engaged to a man she never had one connection with, who mentally and physically abused her, whom she couldn’t be herself with, who framed jack etc. she threw that life away for someone who actually saw her, listened to her, understood her, and someone she could be herself with knowing that he loved every part of her. she deserved jacks love not her fiancés.

People hate on Rose because they think she's selfish. She is, but if you grew up in her position you would too. She did what made her happy and Jack made her happy. That necklace was a reminder of what she had, of what she lost and what life she was brought into. She did what she had to.
