I fact checked this and Trump did not say that. However that statement is correct. The device shown is an adapter and has nothing to do with the copper being referred to in the meeting. Copper is used for electrical conductivity in older telecom systems and fiber optics (which was referenced) is for high speed data transmission via light and not electricity. Assuming that its some kind of ai that created this sound...it was taken highly out of context and over simplified as media does with every single president. Im not all over Trump, but come on now...we are gonna listen to an IT apprentice tell everyone how things work when to dissprove a statement fabricated by ai he used an adapter when the AI CREATED statement insinuated you cant directly hook the two together...which remains true.

As a field tech for a cable company, I can confirm that you can for decades connect fiber and copper together. It's called a HFC network.

Almost all of the fiber cables laid in the world ultimately feed into copper systems anyway. I don’t understand what he even thinks isn’t possible. Fusing the cables directly I guess lol.
