@toren_wolf: Many autistic people have a tendency to seek clarification. 💜 It usually manifests as the person asking frequent clarifying questions during a conversation. This trait is often viewed negatively by allistic (non autistic) individuals, being seen as argumentative or pedantic. In reality, this behavior is simply the person trying to better understand the situation. Remember that autistic individuals process information differently, and often desire to fully comprehend instructions, tasks, and the meaning of others.💜 Autistic clarification is not rude nor disrespectful, it is crucial for communication and comfort. If you encounter this, please be gentle, kind and understanding. ❤️ I have seen people get angry and mean over this, and that is never ok.🥺💜 Have a lovely day, everyone! #autism #adhd

this is actually quite helpful as I have 1 autistic student who is constantly asking unnecessary questions and often tell him to stop so I shall try to stop myself first in future.

Or if someone randomly asks a question and they are like "Why do we have to look it up I was just wondering?" well now I'm wondering too and want the facts so ..... why speculate when we can know and then discuss it

I've had someone ask me why I always feel the need to be right, what they didn't understand is that I didn't care if I was right or wrong, I just wanted to know the true answer (and I usually happened to be right lol)

I'm autistic and can't stand people looking up something during an argument because its been used to manipulate me and make me feel like I'm going insane when most of the time when I'm "wrong" it's because the info changed since I learned it and I can't accept the change and it makes me really angry

I feel this so much, if I don't ask for clarification people get angry when I misunderstand and get it wrong, but if I ask for clarification people get mad at me for asking I can never win.

it's not the need to be "right" or "win", it's wanting to ensure that the facts are correct and accurate, which allistics misinterpret as arguing 🙃

I learned a little trick for that which works in some situations, if I just say "wow I didn't know that, that's interesting" and later search about the topic I can just say "I wanted to know more about this but I saw that what you said is a little different here" this is good with argumentative people, with close friends I can question they're knowledge bc we are humans and can't know everything but some ppl don't know that

i have figured out the correct wording to prevent NT's from misinterpreting this! Whenever they say "it's like this", but i know/think that is wrong, I just say: "Really? Have I been wrong about this my entire life!? Let me look this up because now I need to know."
Works every time.

It’s also human beings hated to be questioned. They just want what they say to be “fact”. You’re seen as difficult for simply questioning
