@want.all.the.things: The amount of stories in this book that will shock you is unreal! #ushistory #historicalfacts #HistoryTime #historyteacher #historytiktok #historytok #americanhistory #bookrecommendations #BookTok #workersrights #dealsforyoudays
If Ludlow shocked you, wait till you hear about the Battle of Blair Mountain—10,000 miners went to war with coal companies, and the U.S. bombed them. Yes, bombed. On U.S. soil.

Bc 19 people isn’t spectacular enough to include in US history books but maybe in your state textbook?

Coal miners were literally slaves but no one will teach that .. they couldn’t just switch jobs bc the companies owned their housing and paid them in their own form of currency…

As someone who is getting their masters in us history (more specifically the American south) you realize real fast how disgusting this country is.. no one is truly safe and the government is evil. my thesis is "A Government of the Few: Voter Suppression and Elite Control in American Democracy"

I believe the term “red necks” came from this. The corporations hired people to take out the coal miners on the DL so the miners wore red bandannas around their neck to distinguish from the bad guys.

Comments hear fail to realize how young America is as a Country. Yes there are many instances where are people are victimized by our Gov. Look at Europe Russia, China and their age and the revolutions,etc. Compared the USA is still more civil, why? Evil loses to the bedrock our forefathers founded our countries principles (Constitution) on, God!

This is completely f*cked, but it's incredibly important to note this was NOT the US military--it was the state guard under the Governor. The federal military CANNOT be deployed domestically for anything short of an actual insurrection or invasion.

It’s weird when you discover that the US history that you were taught about in school was actually a very sanitized version with a specific intent in mind, right?

I learned this is college 😬 I took African American history as well as intro to women’s studies. Also American history and political science 101. They all taught me so much of how disgraceful this country has really been. What I’m seeing now happening in the USA does not surprise me at all. All the history I took before college taught me a sugar coated history of this place! It’s probably the reason so many republicans think that way. They are very uneducated and easily misinformed! I craved real knowledge of what really happened to people of color here and women! And what I found out was the white male has always been the cruelty in the world! They have always behaved this way and thought they were superior. Yet they are so ignorant and easily manipulated.
