@anna..papalia: ⬇️There’s only one right answer to these five interview questions. When you’re asked in a job interview, “How are you?” ❌Do not say, “Ugh, I am just getting over a cold. I’ve been better” ✅Instead, always say, “I am great, thank you. How are you?” @Anna Papalia 👈Watch this for more details on how to answer small talk questions in a job interview “Why do you want to work here?” ❌Do not say, “I went on your company’s website, and I really like your mission and values, and your tuition reimbursement plan is very interesting.” ✅Instead, always say, “I’ve outgrown my current position, and I am looking for a new challenge and I know that I can improve your product and department by doing x, y and z.” @Anna Papalia 👈Watch this to learn more about how to answer this question by explaining what you can do for the company not what the company can do for you. “Where do you see yourself in 5 years?” ❌Do not say, “Well I want to go to grad school and start my own business.” ✅Instead say, “I see myself here at this organization.” “Do you have any questions for us?” ❌Do not say, “No. I’m good. You answered all my questions.” ✅Instead say, “Why is this position open?” and “What are the next steps in the interview process?” “What are your salary expectations?” ❌Do not ever give them a number ✅Instead say, “What is the position paying?” @Anna Papalia 👈Watch this to learn how to negotiate your salary in a job interview   #jobinterview #interviewtips #interviewprep #corproate #jobsearch #unemployed

Them : "what are you salary expectations?" Me: "what is the position paying?" Them: "we will analise our candidates accordingly to the expectations you have, so we NEED you to give us a number." --happened to me several times --

This is why I never ask any of these questions when I interview people. Tired questions that get canned answers and never tell you anything real about your candidate.

I can't speak on behalf of everyone but as a hiring manager I can tell you such answers (except for number 4,yes always have genuine questions) would put your application straight into the reject folder and gets you nothing more than a courteous handshake at the end of the interview. Never give these canned responses, nothing turns off hiring people than candidates coming with such attitude and such responses. They may not hurt you through the initial screening of an HR phone interview, but will absolutely destroy your chances if it is in the actual interview with the actual hiring manager.

These generic interview questions always get the worst people in positions.... as a person with ADHD. I have never passed such generic interviews... but people who have hired me always don't want to let me go and double my salary within 3 months

I had an interviewer forcing me to say a number for salary expectations. She didn’t want to accept any of my questions about what the company is paying. What would you do in that situation?

An interviewer once asked me "why do we need you". I laughed and reminded them they reached out to me on LinkedIn, citing my portfolio and years of experience. The real question is "Why do I need you?" Can you pay my worth? The room was silenced. Employers always think they are the only ones that know what they want. Guess what, employees do too

Regarding the salary expectations, I always answer: "well, I don't know the budget that you have assigned to this position." So far that answer has been working well for me in all the interviews.

these are great answers for the 1980s. there is no real long-term advantage to staying with the same organization for 20 years anymore. the people who advance their careers and salaries are changing companies every 3 to 5 years.
