Our ancestors were connected to each other, to their land and environment, and to deeper aspects of themselves. They knew everyone was born with a purpose and unique gifts to fulfil that purpose. They knew that to thrive, an individual needs purpose and relationships. So community was set up for that. Community was set up to mentor and support young people to remember and pursue their purpose. Community was set up to support healing so trauma does not hold one back from living one's purpose.
