I’ve lost money trading for 20 years. The absurd part is that I’m still trading after all that time. The only difference now is that I’ve solidified my system and finally turned the table.
Without those 20 years of banging my head against the wall and more than once facing what felt like near death experiences, I wouldn’t have the market intuition and experience I have today. I don’t know if most people could take that much loss and pain for two decades. Honestly, I wouldn’t recommend it to everyone.
For me, I had no choice. I kept going for no clear reason, even after running my accounts to zero and eventually into debt. One day, I had to make a decision. Do I leave trading, rebuild my life, and finally find peace, or do I take this seriously, write everything down, build a proper system, and turn this into something real?
It is not a one year, two year, or even three year game. I know people who have been trading unprofitably for over 20 years. This is like becoming a surgeon. Anyone can hold a scalpel, but not everyone can operate. It takes years of studying, years of real world experience, and by the time you are truly skilled, you are older.
Trading looks easy. It fools people, especially all the young guys on TikTok launching prop firms before their beards have fully grown. Many end up losing other people’s money and falling into debt, all because they are funded. Meanwhile, the market quietly takes down these newcomers while the one percent keep winning.
