@brutamerica: What does flood insurance cover? Not everyone has flood insurance. Among those who do, most are required to have it, such as homeowners with government-backed mortgages. According to FEMA’s website, “Even if you don’t live near water, your home can still be at risk of flooding due to changing weather patterns and conditions such as construction projects, surface erosion or natural events.” FEMA also noted, “In 2023, the NFIP paid over 21,000 claims, which provided nearly $1.0 billion in claim payments.” #Floods #Flooding #FloodInsurance #FEMA #NFIP #RainDamage #HurricaneSeason Photo credit: AdobeStock

Luzz :
Your home insurance doesn’t not include flood damage and if it does you have to verify what it covers usually the water has to come through the roof not through the door or windows used to work in home insurance (we didn’t not have to provide customers with that information ) even when you have a mortgage

Everyone should have flood insurance! If you don’t have a mortgage and you opt out of it, that’s on you! Everyone needs to do their due diligence

My recommendation is to see private carrier as a flood option higher coverage limits reasonable premiums claims are paid faster. One option is Neptune.
