@drmaryclaire: Did menopause land you in the ER? Was it palpitations? Panic attacks? Dizziness? Tinnitus? Anxiety so intense you thought something was seriously wrong? Drop your story below. You’re not alone—and your voice matters. #menopause #perimenopause #drmaryclaire #thenewmenopause #menopausesymptoms
10 yrs of Heart palpitations. Multiple cardiologists + wore a Holter several times, & all said nothing wrong. I learned myself it was due to menopause. HRT fixed it.

I went to ER in extreme pain, most likely because a cyst burst. The gaslighting was unreal. A nurse said it was probably menstrual cramps & I was overreacting. Everyone else thought I wanted pain meds. Thank goodness a nurse with OBGYN experience overhead & intervened to help me.

Racing heart…panic attack in waiting room all to be told everything seems fine. Gave me metoprolol, resting HR was 40 during the day, at night I was waking up with heart racing and in a panic. So far diagnosed with sleep apnea and anxiety. Currently searching for reputable hormone specialist near me…complete hysterectomy 11 years ago. 1mg estradiol since then. The way the heart palpitations and anxiety make you feel like the symptoms for heart attack in women is scary

Two weeks ago,I was just fine and suddenly I can’t move my shoulder. Like can’t even lift my arm an inch. Turns out after going to the specialist in the most excruciating pain,I have calcifications in my tendon. Because of the lack of estrogen,I’m perimenopausal (49).

Yes! Diagnosis SVT - ended up having an ablation. However a nurse came to me and suggested quietly I get my hormones checked. She knew. The doc did not.

Severe panic attack and heart palpitations. Some of my first perimenopause symptoms. They basically rolled their eyes at me and sent me home. I was terrified. They didn’t even say it could be a panic attack. They said, “Your heart is fine. Bye.”

Yes several times, here’s the list: vertigo, dignosed with Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) Doctor told me to look up some videos on how to do the Epley maneuver. He did not do the maneuver with me and gave me no meds. He said the cause is still unknown. Second visit was do to heart palpitations and wasn’t given anything either, told it was anxiety. They said to manage my stress better and seek therapy. Third visit was a panic attack and was given nothing but referred to a psychiatrist. Last visit non stop muscles twitches all over my face and body, was given nothing but they did offer muscle relaxers.

Peri-menopause, but bleeding so heavily for months straight that hgb was 4 and I needed a couple of blood transfusions for anemia because I couldn’t stay conscious. My Dr had told me period changes are just part of my age, take iron as well as ibuprofen to slow the bleeding.

I was bleeding really bad at 50, went twice to emergency and they kept saying, nothing is wrong just go see your Gynecologist and when I went to my dr he said, let’s get you to surgery for hysterectomy and that way you will only need a patch of estrogen ( this was 9 years ago)

Dizziness and palpitations. Blood work was all fine. EKG was good. Sent me home with Meclizine and told to drink more fluids even though I was not dehydrated. I was treated as though I was making it all up.

2 Seizures, first thought syncope but they were proper tonic clonic seizures lasting 3 minutes.. ever since being on HRT for 18 months I’ve not had another one so I think it was being in estrogen deficiency because it affected all my bones to near osteoporosis found on DEXA scan at just 44. I was tested and no eggs clinically in menopause .. those seizures, the bones AND 13 “non specific brain lesion” all from estrogen deficiency.. I believe but no one figure that out.. I did😳 …I don’t look like your typical old lady and so I was totally dismissed by numerous GP’s and hospital doctors.

Went to ER by ambulance after cortisol rush ( panic attack I suppose). I had said to my daughter something isn’t right inside of me. Came out of nowhere. Initial ER dr said it might be heart related and I wore a heart halter for a week. Second ambulance ride a week later. Ended up I. Hospital sign every test known to man including brain scans. Hospital GP said it might be your hormones. My GP said .. it’s menopause. Went on HRT and lexapro because the cortisol surges wouldn’t stop. Came of lexepro after 2 years. Still on HRT. I believe having my Mirena out 6 weeks prior triggered it. Was 51

Yes! 3 times! Heart paliptations, and sometimes heart palipatations after a strong phantom chemical smell. I would be sitting in a meeting or at my desk and HR going from 60-135 or to 165 sitting still. Found nothing…. After third visit was told it was anxiety and I needed anxiety meds.
