@pineyforkhomestead: The greenhouse leans a little toward the mountains, like it’s tired but still listening. Its windows wear a coat of green— not from paint, but from time. Out front, the weeds have made a mess of things, but they’ve got charm if you squint, and behind them: the mountains, watching like old friends who don’t say much. Inside, I found a kind of story: chipped china saucers with blue and gold that caught the light, cracked clay pots that still felt worth keeping, a little clay frog still grinning, Frogs frozen mid song on a broken bird bath. Tools left behind like someone meant to come back but got called in for supper and forgot. There’s a dry sink with dirt in the corners and worn out shelves made for light things— seedlings. I’ll scrub the windows, mend the shelves, clear the weeds that choked out last year’s trying. I want to grow flowers here in winter. Color when the world goes gray. Maybe herbs for soup, or lavender for the soul. This place was made for growing things. Some green.
