Exodus is old testament. The new testament repels all the old testament rules. That’s the whole point of “christianity” which is based in “Christ” the “redeemer”. Anyhow, everyone should take any religion with hearty amounts of salt.

Why are we surprised that people in the iron age had slaves? The issue is why are we setting the bar for our society as low as a bunch of mostly ignorant and definitely not infallible people from 2-3k years ago.

the Bible had 10 really good opportunities to say slavery is bad. okay, don't kill and don't steal were good priorities, but they had 8 more chances, and they went with don't covet and observe the Sabbath, not don't own people.

gnostics believed the true God was actually imprisoned by the demiurge (think Satan but not a angel) and was responsible for all the old testament evils performed by 'god', it's quite interesting to see different sects using the same source material but come up with a different outcome/conclusion
