As a doctor, I say nurses can do a lot. If she is about to take blood sample (as looks like from the video) then she is MORE experienced in it than doctors. We don't do it. We only diagnose and prescribe medicine. But the nurses are the ones who actually give you the medicine and do all physical work. Show some respect to someone who studied and most importantly, put their life and theirs families lives on the line just to come today and take care of sick people. Because you did not do so.

No disrespect to nurses, but pls, let’s not compare 15 years of training to 5

I loveeee NPers BUT for my first pregnancy I think it would of been nice to have some consistency and connection with the person that was going to deliver my baby.. I just jumped from NP to Np to PA and sometimessss the doctor

Board certified as an Np means nothing lmao. It’s not the same as a physician who did a residency and board certification. You should ask for the physician because the NP may have just shadowed for a few hours and gotten an online degree and thinks they are the same as your doctor. Your NP may be nice but nice does not equal educated. ✌️

I’m not paying someone my money if I’m expecting to see a MD and see a PA or NP instead. I’m paying to see someone who has had years of schooling and years of training

I don’t understand all the the disrespect and hate towards NPs. All healthcare providers have their place in patient care. NPs typically have great bedside manner and if they don’t think they can appropriately address your health concern then they can tell you to see an MD or specialist. MD’s refer patients to specialists all the time…

I absolutely hate when I specifically schedule with the doctor, even waiting extended times to see the doctor, then the NP walks in. I have no issues seeing most NP’s but for certain things, I want to see the doctor especially when I specifically schedule an appt with the doctor! I’ve left a couple of practices b/c of this.

I prefer Nurse practitioners. My daughter sees a pediatric nurse practitioner and I’ve never felt more heard as an advocate for my child we adore her. NP have the sweet nature and bedside manners of a nurse but training like a doctor. I’m thankful for yall.

Being a scheduler in a cardiology clinic, I always try to explain to the patients why the NP or APRN may be MORE qualified to see them than the doctor is. I see all you do and appreciate you!! 🙌🏼

"Most everything a MD can do" is a real stretch...the training is so very different. I respect NPs but the scope of practice is and should be limited.

“I do most everything a doctor can do” 🤨no you absolutely do not. You shouldn’t be comparing yourself to a doctor either. Completely different jobs. So much for the whole “NP‘s Collab.”🙄

yeah well 3 different NP's missed severe tonsillitis on my son and kept insisting it was a viral infection causing 103-106 temps for days at a time. finally got an appointment with an actual doctor and my son had an emergency tonsillectomy the same day. I'll never trust a NP again. made me switch clinics bc the one I'd gone to for years suddenly had only NPs and no doctors.

I will only see my doctor. I will never see a nurse practitioner after the last experience. He was on vacation so I decided to see her and she threatened to throw me in the psych ward and I told him about it. he asked if she even looked at my chart. It was because I had swollen ankles and I was crying because she wasn't listening to me. didn't even order me work. he came back and boom. he helped the problem

MSN here. I believe the medical community as a whole has done a poor job educating the public about the role of mid-level practitioners. When patients hear titles like NURSE practitioner or physician ASSISTANT, they often assume these providers are simply "helpers" rather than highly trained clinicians. It's time for organizations like the AANP, AAPA, and AMA to step up and lead the way in educating the public—because this is the future of healthcare.

I like NPs only for general medicine but I want to see a Dr for specialty fields. That’s just me though! When I went to a neurologist and I saw a NP she did zero assessments on me. I don’t think their expertise compares to specialists. Sorry, not sorry and I’m in healthcare 🤷‍♀️

NPs and PAs are the best! Coming from a nurse doctors are so arrogant and plus most of the time NPs have been bedside for years and know more than the docs 🫣 my doctor missed my sons pneumonia and a nurse practitioner at a clinic caught it 🤷🏻‍♀️

I would rather see a NP over a doctor any day! I’ve had better experiences from NP’s, they usually stay with the patient longer than a doctor actually does, they actually seem like they care. Plus my sister is one 💜
