I think what infuriates me the most is that DanDanDan‘s whole concept is that SA is portrayed as edgy and quirky. Like the lack of SERIOUSNESS is what irks me the most.

bottom line it's sexism, CSM focuses more on male SA and DanDaDan focuses more on female SA, also CSM shows impact and how that effects the character on deeper levels and DanDaDan makes the scenes quick and blend them with action making it seem more like a joke or for shock value.

Another one of the main differences is that Denji's SA is far more how do I put this realistic his assaulters aren't aliens or ghosts that he can easily take down for a cathartic fight scene they are women he works with

Ppl love to say “it has themes of psychosexual horror of course it’s gonna be uncomfortable.” Like it’s not just that it’s uncomfortable the SA is handled like a joke. Ik ppl would say it’s hypocritical to like CSM and not Dandadan but I don’t rly care.

Csm is the story of a boy who has nothing finding worth, family, and purpose despite all of the cruelty and suffering he’s gone through. Dandadan’s depiction of SA ends up doing nothing to the story of a boy falling in love with a psychic girl.

I'll never forget Fujimoto's subversion of expectation with the bath scene between Denji and Power. It actually means so much to me how there was ZERO sexual tension, just care and compassion.

I used to talk to this guy who told me to watch DanDaDan. I was about to throw up watching that scene especially when I’m a victim of SA. I felt so disgusted and watching that meanwhile he was laughing about it and saying how it’s so “freaky”. So glad I’m not talking to him anymore. DandaDan could’ve been a good show if they don’t use SA being done on literal minors as something comedic and funny.

I'm convinced that even the author of Dandadan knows the first volume was a mistake. While there are still other instances of weird scenes, they never go that far again, and tend to be treated more seriously. I don't really recall much more sexualisation after the point the anime is at either.

Tbh I don't think DDD sexualizes its portrayal of SA at all. For example, the first episode was pure horror camera angles rather than anything that was supposed to be arousing. And there's actually a really impactful message throughout the show about how strong survivors are. Also, although it's not as progressive over here as it is in Japan, Turbo Granny's whole deal is to avenge girls who suffered by doing the same to men.

Idk I disliked both. CSM had that scene with the adult woman vomiting in his mouth. DanDanDan was just…awful. I think both are just men writing out wicked perversions for themselves. Any real media meant to have a genuine message would take a more serious tone with it. The fact that it’s just jokes or fetishizing it without the perpetrators getting any real repercussions for their actions makes both shows bad imo. But eastern media just has a bad habit of glamorizing taboo topics overall. Just look at all the isekais that are just grown men becoming kids again so they can swoon over children. Anime’s never been great (black butler for example) but it’s gotten a lot worse recently. Nowadays if the protagonist isn’t a woman or if it’s not written by a woman I won’t watch it.
