Don’t listen to the people in the comments telling you that you need to aspirate first. That is an outdated practice that is no longer recommended by who or the cdc. There are no major blood vessels in the landmarks where you’re injecting, there is no conclusive evidence proving benefit to aspirating, and it causes your patient unnecessary pain. Medicine is constantly evolving and being a good nurse means keeping up to date on the latest evidence based practices.

Keep your finger off of the plunger until it’s time to inject! ☺️

This explains a lot as to why nurses hit bone then stop to pull back and then push the drug. Because they are waiting to hit something hard because of the way they are taught. You did a good job. Just a flaw in the teaching.

Ummm I’ve never seen any nurse push the needle in and push wtv is in it at the same time. Is this an okay thing to do as a nurse? Like it’s a genuine question I would like to know and be educated on

In my patient care tech class we practiced everything on each other. Blood draws, shots, vitals. The blood draws almost made me drop out ngl

keep your finger off the plunger until you're fully in, and PLEASE use your non- dominant hand to stabilize the needle when you release. wiggly needles hurt!

The whole point of practicing on people is cause you need to get used to their reaction. You’re gonna go to poke someone and it’s not even gonna feel familiar

I recommend taking your finger off the plunger until you inject the medicine. otherwise good job. remember the depth of people's arms differ and scrawny mammaw might not have enough meat on her vs healthy 20 year olds for example

I wasn’t even taught by anyone I just had to figure out as I go. (Thank you YouTube) Self injections are so hard esp when you have shaky hands. First two days I injected the needle so slowly and I’m like “yeah this isn’t right” 🤣🤣🤣🤣
