I have lived in Thailand and also stayed a whole month in Vietnam. Vietnamese food is better. It has way more flavor profile and versatilty. But these are both top 3 asian foods.

Thai food is good but for a long run it should be Vietnamese. See the custom of vegies accounting for 40% of a dish in Vietnamese daily meal

not a good match up for the dishes especially thai tea and viet coffee, and tom yum (soup) vs pho (noodle soup), and spring rolls, (there isn’t a signature thai spring roll..)

Viet here but I gotta stand up for the som tam (Thai papaya salad) 😆 seems basic but it actually has alot of depth of flavor and is 99% better in Thailand than in foreign countries. They mix it fresh every order, it's complex marinade of pounded palm sugar/lime/shrimp paste and unapologetic copious amount of Thai chilli makes it a far superior dish to the Viet vermicelli 'salad' which is actually not a salad at all.
