So we numb and sometimes dissociate and space out until we learn to expand the zone that feels tolerable to feel without exhausting our ability to cope. It might sound lovely - like oh wow a nice vacation from feeling. It also can be mistaken for being SUPER CHILL. It’s not. I want to let you know that just because it doesn’t present as agitation or hyper- vigilance, ooooof it is uncomfortable. At its core, it’s a protective mechanism, but long-term isn’t conducive to connecting with self and others. I love you.
