Dumping syndrome is the absolute worst. I suggest keeping clean clothes in your car for a while until you can better understand what sets it off for you. I’m so so glad you’re home, and I hope you’re recovering well.

I have a gastric bypass surgery in August and while I know what’s gonna come in terms of small portions to eat (I have a sleeve already, but really, really bad reflux, so they’ll go for a bypass), I’m super worried about dumping syndrome. 😭🙈 any tips?

So I had barriatric surgery 9 years ago where most of my stomach was taken out. I had to start with clear liquids, mush food and slowly move to regular food once what was left healed and matured.

How painful is it *physically* to undergo a gastrectomy and recovering from it? Even under normal circumstances vomiting is usually ✨extremely unpleasant✨ so I cannooot imagine all that wretching and whatnot being very comfortable while post op from one 😅

Dumping syndrome is awful 🫠 I recommend keeping a bag with a fresh set of clothes in your car, until you learn your triggers :) wetwipes and doggy bags are handy too 😂 cause sometimes you are lucky an manage to pull over 🙈 and leaving the wipes in nature is not nice

Yes, dumping syndrome is awful. My mom gets shaky, dizzy and just sick feeling if something is too sweet, and it can make you awful feeling for a little while. You will learn your new ways. I would say 4-6 months and you will know exactly what works for you. 4 months out has been a total game changer for her. Wishing you all the best.

I don’t know if it’s the same for you, but I had weight loss surgery which causes dumping syndrome.Try keeping your sugar intake under 7 grams & see if it helps with getting sick.stay away from sugar substitutes erythritol, xylitol, and sorbitol.Wishing you well on your recovery!
