the whole idea of dead people being anywhere is actually not scriptural yet Christians tout this belief that loved ones are in a better place...the Bible states that only when Jesus comes back the dead in Christ shall rise, and only after being individually judged at the judgement seat by God are you assigned one of 2 places to spend eternity...so which is it ???

Spot on! Many so-called Bible believers think that God or Jesus has taken those campers to be with them in heaven. Tragic as it is and family members justified in whatever emotions they have, the Bible says that God is not the cause of tragedies - such tragedies occur because of the following reasons: 1. Time and unforeseen circumstances befall all humans - people are at the wrong place and wrong time: Ecclesiastes 9:11,12 "I have seen something further under the sun, that the swift do not always win the race, nor do the mighty win the battle, nor do the wise always have the food, nor do the intelligent always have the riches, nor do those with knowledge always have success, because time and unexpected events overtake them all. 12 For man does not know his time"! Luke 13:1-4 "At that time some who were present reported to Jesus about those 18 on whom the tower in Si·loʹam fell, killing them—do you think that they had greater guilt than all other men who live in Jerusalem?"! Identifying one reason why humans suffer, the Bible states: “Time and unexpected events overtake them all.” (Ecclesiastes 9:11) When unanticipated events or accidents happen, whether someone is affected or not depends to a large extent on where he is at the time they occur. Nearly 2,000 years ago, Jesus Christ spoke of a calamity involving 18 people who were killed when a tower fell on them. (Luke 13:1-5) They did not become victims because of the way they had lived their lives; they were simply under the tower when it happened to fall. However, there are other reasons that could have contributed, e.g. disaster preparedness and timely responses, etc.

My friend lost her granddaughter at Camp Mystic. I also think about the tragic way she passed and when I first saw this picture it angered me so much. She had to be terrified, but this is supposed to bring her family comfort? Seriously? Just no.

Is there a term for a relgigious psychosis of some sort that comes in the form of “letting go and letting God?” Where because of this belief no real time action is put forth towards solving problems and using “God’s will” as an excuse to not sit in reality?

Agreed. The same goes with our personal relationships and challenges between us. Christians are encouraged to pray and give them over to God, asking him to intervene. This absolves us of sitting with discomfort in these relationships and in taking responsibility for those challenges and in doing the hard work.

Yesss! My mom brought this tragedy up and how heartbreaking it is and I concurred and encouraged her to vote appropriately and she promptly told me she would be praying for the families and politics would have to wait until an appropriate time.

it was nauseating to me how many comments I saw saying, "tragic, but at least those little girls are with Jesus now"....as if that makes it better that they died horrible, preventable deaths. why don't they have that same energy with abortion?
