@shadowedtruths_: John Arthur Getreu was finally caught in 2018—45 years after the 1973 r@p3 and unaliving of Stanford graduate Leslie Perlov—when DNA from a discarded coffee cup linked him to the crime. A year later, he was also charged in the 1974 unaliving of Janet Taylor, the daughter of Stanford’s athletic director. Both cases had gone cold for decades until investigators used forensic genealogy to identify Getreu, a former Stanford employee with a history of s3xual violence, including a 1963 unaliving in Germany. In 2021, he was convicted and sentenced to life without parole for Taylor, and in 2023, he pleaded guilty to Perlov’s k!ller!ng, receiving another life sentence.
