It’s probably a range of motion issue - I’ve seen a lot of people do “5 plates” on leg press but if you’re moving it 3 inches per rep that’s not doing much. Additionally, it takes time to add muscle - you might not be eating enough

I always hear this argument from people boasting their leg press, but I’ve never heard of this statement from a person barbell squatting five plates for reps. Being strong on a machine that guides your movement is not the same impact to your muscles as being strong on a freeweight compound movement.

Hypertrophy training is not the same as strength training. Also, to build significant muscle you must eat in a surplus.

It’s not about how much weight you lift it’s about how you lift the weight. Tom Platz always said it’s about the reps not the weight. You want to aim for 20+ reps at 75-80% of your 1 rep max. Plus full range of motion. Prioritize front squats and back squats and focus on hack squats to grow your quads. RDL/Reverse Lunges/ Bulgarian SS/ Step ups with glute kickbacks at the end of your workout and prioritize squats when you’re fresh.

Strength training CAN lead to muscle gains but strength is not EQUAL to hypertrophy. If that were the case, powerlifters would never be able to stay in the same weight class.

The legs grow better with higher reps. I use up to 20 a set. The weight is not light but not super heavy. Like on squats I only may use 185. But I use the smith so I do not have to think about balance and simply rep to failure. I’ll also use techniques like sitting in the bottom of the rep and using rest pause sets. I tend to do this with everything. Also the smith gives u the ability to stop short of the top and not lock out. All the tension stays on the muscle.

Leg press isn't a great exercise for building muscle because you can cheat it too easily. A better exercise is a weighted step up with strict control or Bulgarian split squat with a DB.

My coach helped me so much!!! She gives me routines that combine compound exercises as well as isolation, resistance, isometric, eccentric, balance, velocity and includes various sets of adding weight or and reps until failure, cable etc. Do it slow and controlled ,it’s not only about moving weight BUT actually working the muscles, surprise them, put them to work and not only do the same old things with the same old weight. ADD FOOD, whole food.

No shade but leg press isn’t the best indicator of strength. Also, regardless of how much you lift, if you wanna grow increase the weight and increase the protein

I took a look at your video of you doing leg press. your feet are at the top of the foot plate so most of the stress is on your glutes. move your feet further down to hit your quads more. still, impressive work.
