People love to say that undocumented immigrants “broke the law,” but they ignore the fact that Donald Trump: is a convicted felon and has broken the law repeatedly, in ways that have seriously endangered democracy. In May 2024, Trump was found guilty on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records in New York to cover up a hush money payment to Stormy Daniels, done to influence the 2016 election. He became the first U.S. president ever convicted of a felony. In Georgia, he faces 13 felony charges under the RICO Act for trying to overturn the 2020 election, including conspiracy to commit forgery and pressuring officials to “find 11,780 votes.” At the federal level, he’s been indicted for attempting to overthrow the 2020 election, charged with conspiracy to defraud the U.S., obstruction of an official proceeding (Jan. 6), and conspiracy against citizens’ rights. In another federal case, he’s charged with over 40 felonies for stealing and hiding classified documents after leaving office, including obstruction of justice and making false statements. In civil court, he’s been found liable for sexual abuse and defamation against writer E. Jean Carroll, paying $88 million total in damages. He was also found guilty of massive business fraud in New York, inflating the value of his properties to scam banks and insurers, and ordered to pay over $450 million. So when people throw around “they broke the law” to attack immigrants who just wanted to feed their families, remind them that Trump—a man they worship—has broken laws repeatedly, endangered national security, tried to overturn an election, sexually assaulted someone, committed fraud, and lied to the public, all while walking free with secret service protection and a campaign for re-election. That’s not justice—it’s hypocrisy.
