I always let my son decide with just one rule, no buzz cut because he has a lump big head with cowlicks🤣 if he’d wanted it I wouldn’t have stopped it but I’d have tried to talk him out of it. A couple days before his 9th birthday I let my husband take him for his haircut and he had them buzz it, my husband not my son decided to do this. I was furious, my son is 21 now and I’m still furious. My husband knew I didn’t want that!

I hear you, I do, but my NOT very controlling mother wouldn't let me dress or have the hair I wanted till I was like 19 yeah 19 anything else everything else was like no problem.

just sat with a friend whose boy is going into hs and he wants his hair cut and she was upset because she didn’t want him to because it reminded her he wasn’t little anymore. i was in disbelief at the lack of autonomy for him

oooo...thats why every hair stylist my son went to gave me a double look and say im awesome. when I said ask him what he wants its not my head its his. he needs to like his hair not me. if I dont like it thats a me problem cuz he picked what he likes and I need to respect that.

I went to a school with a uniform and strict hair rules on boys and a guy in my class refused to conform to it, and everybody was so shocked by it and I’m like bro what’s the difference between my shoulder length hair and his shoulder length hair?????

I’ve had hair stylist asking me what kind if haircut to give my nephew and I would tell them it is his hair and to ask him. And I also told my nephew that he can tell the stylist/ barber what he wants done with his hair. It is his hair.

My husband didn’t know until he was a full adult that he has gorgeous waves when his hair is long. He keeps it shoulder length and I LOVE it.

Gonna stop you right there. I’ve worked in salons with girls screaming and crying in pain because of what their mother wants done. Girl auto my is out the window and they’re expected to suffer for beauty standards. And yet they grow up to care about people.

Last week I took my 10 year old for a haircut. The stylist looked at me and asked what I wanted done for him, and I told her it's his hair and he gets to decide. She seemed surprised but then she turned the appointment around to focus on him. He got a buzz, which isn't my fave, but it's not about me. Luckily he can pull of a short buzz pretty well. 😆
