Fun fact about Blair witch- the crew was actually left in the woods with just a camera. They thought the director/crew had abandoned them. The director told the one guy to actually get rid of the map and they were actually “lost”. In the movie, they were truly terrified.

the ritual takes place in sweden, in sarek national park, so it’s not exactly the appalachian mountains. BUT it is actually one of the scariest movies ever, as well as the descent, so i absolutely recommend them both if you want a genuine horror movie that will creep you out in the best way.

I do love the movie adaptation of The Descent but if you like reading it’s definitely worth the time! There are similarities between both but I think the book nails the fear more.
